On March 18, under the efficient deployment and rapid response of the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Headquarters in Songjiang District, the Mobile Cabin Laboratory of Fosun Diagnostics - Biomedlab, officially started testing.

The maximum daily test quantity of the mobile cabin laboratory can reach 16,000-20,000 tubes. The maximum daily test volume can reach 200,000 people with 10-in-1 test, while the maximum daily test volume can reach 400,000 people with 20-in-1 test, which will effectively improve the timeliness and accuracy of nucleic acid test in the jurisdiction. This cabin laboratory is currently the first mobile cabin laboratory with complete three certificates in Shanghai.

The mobile cabin laboratory jointly built by Fosun Diagnostics, Fosun Beiling and Shanghai Biomedical Laboratory (member company of Fosun Diagnostics) is significant in supplementing and improving the capability to address emergencies, quickly dealing with or solving the problem of insufficient ability of fixed laboratories, and quickly filling in the gaps in places where there is no actual test capability.

Where there is an epidemic, there is a "Fosun speed". Upon receipt of the notice, two mobile BLS-2+ high-level biosafety laboratories with the daily test capacity of 10,000 tubes each were urgently invoked from Beijing at 5:00 p.m. After arriving the next night, the laboratory was assembled in one day. The whole process "from transportation to assembly" was completed in less than 48 h. Every colleague on site "worked in shifts", and successfully made the cabin laboratory operate.

The cabin laboratory was built according to the requirements of relevant deployment units such as the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Songjiang District Government, and has successfully passed the acceptance of the Shanghai Center for Clinical Laboratory and Shanghai Municipal Health Commission.

The mobile cabin laboratory of SBC Biomedlab of Fosun Diagnostics is divided into: central control room (monitoring the conditions of each area of the cabin and the pressure and temperature display in each test area), reagent preparation area, sample preparation area, PCR amplification area and autoclave sterilization area.

At present, the laboratory is equipped with the comprehensive solution and equipment of Fosun Diagnostics for the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test. The batch automated nucleic acid extraction platform is equipped with a total of 30 automated PCR extractors, and the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test reagents produced by Fosun Diagnostics have been used.

The site is also equipped with experimental quality control and biosafety offices, personnel and material support offices, sample docking and receiving areas, etc.

"We are fully prepared to operate the laboratory efficiently according to the epidemic prevention and control needs of Shanghai, Songjiang District and other regions to ensure the testing capacity of 200,000 people/day or even higher," Xue Jiong, Head of the mobile cabin laboratory of SBC Biomedlab of Fosun Diagnostics, said. Nucleic acid testing and screening are important prerequisites for cutting off the transmission channel and successfully deploying the epidemic prevention strategy.
